As part of Work Package 2 (WP2) “Framework and Architecture” within the FoodDataQuest (FDQ) project, the initial version of the FDQ Framework is now available in Deliverable 2.1. This document also features the first version of the FDQ Blueprint—a modular and adaptable guide built on the FDQ framework, designed to enable trustworthy, secure, and interoperable private data sharing throughout the entire food value chain.
WP2 specifically focuses on developing a structured framework for trustworthy private data sharing within the agri-food sector. This includes identifying principles and good practices, specifying the project’s Reference Architecture, and designing a generic data model that ensures both transparency and sustainability. In the context of the project, WP1 provides the strategic foundation by mapping the current private data-sharing landscape and identifying stakeholder needs. WP2 then translates these insights into concrete structures—such as the framework, architecture, and business models—that, in turn, guide WP3 in developing technical tools and services for the 4 Used Cases. This collaborative, iterative approach ensures that the FDQ Framework remains dynamic, actionable, and relevant across the entire project.
Deliverable D2.1, which is the result of Task 2.1 (Framework Design for Private Data Sharing), mark a significant milestone in this process. It proposes the FDQ Framework, which outlines different elements and aspects from both the food value chain and the data chain. Furthermore, a dedicated tool, comprising a series of questions, was also created to gather input from the Use Cases, helping to identify the unique datasets involved and promote more effective data-sharing strategies. Additionally, an initial glossary was composed in order to harmonize terminology across the project. This glossary will evolve as stakeholders contribute feedback and as the Use Cases progress.
