Earlier in October, FoodDataQuest, took part in Synergy Days, an event celebrating and showcasing European research projects transforming the agri-food sector. The event brought together leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to explore the future of food safety, sustainability, and data-driven solutions. During the event, FoodDataQuest had a strong presence with an exhibition booth, a one-minute project pitch and 3 workshops.
Workshops and Key Topics
1. Extreme food risk analytics for enhanced food safety” in collaboration with EFRA
This workshop focused on addressing emerging food safety risks through advanced analytical techniques and cutting-edge technologies. Participants explored real-time data analysis, predictive modeling, and the use of AI and machine learning in food safety. It also covered identifying novel hazards, risk assessment methods, and strategies for rapid response to threats. By bringing together experts from various fields, the workshop aimed to enhance understanding of extreme risk food analytics and its role in ensuring a safe food supply.
2. Exploring the potential of private data sharing: Identification of gain creators, needs and opportunities
The workshop aimed to explore the potential of private data sharing, focusing on the information needed throughout the food supply chain to promote sustainable dietary change. It examined the types of data to collect and the technologies required to transform that data (e.g., AI, robotics, IoT). The target groups included behavioral/communication experts, food chain actors, and data science/AI specialists. The workshop primarily gathered insights from data and AI experts working at the intersection of data science and agri-food science, identifying the technologies needed to connect data sources and transform them into actionable insights and clear communication messages.
3. Beyond the Buzz: Practical Applications of Generative AI in Behavior Science
This session complemented our existing workshops by offering insights into the transformative potential of AI in consumer behavior sciences. Key topics included exploring generative AI technologies in behavior science, proposing frameworks for working with AI in the current data landscape, discussing dynamic interventions for behavior change and privacy concerns, and hosting interactive sessions, including a prompt engineering challenge.
A Conversation with Siavash Farahbakhsh
Moreover, FoodDataQuest’s project coordinator, Siavash Farahbakhsh from ILVO, was interviewed on the project’s inspiration and its expected impact on the European agri-food sector over the next five years. He also discussed the importance of building synergies across the sector to accelerate innovation and tackle common challenges. [Read the full interview here.]
